Some Room for a View

 At ~ 1000 foot elevation
we sometimes glimpse a view through the scotch broom & trees.

This watershed sign was waypoint #51 on my GPS
so it's now known as the 'Area 51 impasse'.

On our walkabout of the 'Blue Hills' we see distant (blue) hills on the Olympic Peninsula.
per Wikipedia: "The name "Blue Hills" is said to come from the green trees appearing blue at a distance due to atmospheric optics.'
Sometimes logged clearings provide a view.
In 5 years the growing trees will probably obstruct the view.

The dogs get restless with photo breaks
& are happy to get moving again.

Lost Creek Crossing & Fern Alley impasse

There's never a shortage of ferns or mushrooms at this time of year!

When we arrive at a clearing they like to stop and play

Low water flow made it easy to cross Lost Creek before the November storms.

Sometimes a trail takes us no where, but the discoveries are worth it!

Ingress (that's our entry point not that augmented-reality massively-multiplayer online role-playing location-based game)

Our starting point is often on DNR land near Wildcat Lake. The dogs typically take a moment for stretching and warm-up exercises before their perambulation. Here are some photos of their very first time strolling together.

Four Berner Loop

As friends/neighbors with 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs apiece we set out for some important dog bonding time. The dogs seem to want keep going so they have discovered some great 'out and back' jaunts and a few loopy loops. We are trying to keep track of their trail blazing on logging roads, established trails and the occasional bushwhack.  Sometimes we remember to take a photo.  We gather as much info as we can from GPS satellite tracking and the Kitsap Property assessor mapping staying on public lands and out of the Bremerton watershed. Many of the hikes are in the lower ranges of the Blue Hills of Kitsap County.

Here are a few photos from an early hike on a unique circuit we call the "Four Berner Loop"!

Sometimes they play "follow the leader"!

Stopping to appreciate the beauty like this 'nurse log'.

Time to get on down the road.

There are are always side trails to explore next time!
